Blended Meals and Blender Tips

I love my blender.  I have a particular one and would love to tell you his brand name, but for now we’ll call him …

The Blender with No Name

Oh dear.  I don’t have a name for my blender.  I have a name for my vacuum cleaner, but not for my blender.  I’ll have to do something about that.

In the meantime, here are a couple of blender recipes and a tip when using a high-powered blender.  I say high-powered because I’m not sure all blenders can handle strawberry green and garlic skin.

Here are the Recipes

Here is the Tip

One of my favorite blender tips, learned when we bought our needs-to-be-named-blender, is the …

Strawberry TipAlso known as, the Garlic Tip.  You don’t have to pluck the green leaves off the strawberries, nor do you have to peel the garlic.  🙂  Just rinse the berry and pop him into the blender.  And with the garlic, just pop the clove off the bulb and toss him in.

Of course, I’ve never made a Strawberry Garlic Smoothie, so I suggest using the fruit in one thing and the garlic in another.  Although, I could see a Strawberry Garlic Vinaigrette salad dressing in the making.  🙂

It's Blender Time!

And Some More Tips

  • Apples don’t need to be peeled.  Just slice into 8ths or so and pop ’em in.  I usually use my apple slicer, so I do toss the core in the trash with the seeds.  I think the seeds give a smoothie a bit of bitter taste.
  • Oranges need peeling, but not de-seeding, although if they are right there on the surface of the cut, I pick ’em out.  Sometimes.
  • I freeze bananas (out of the skin) in ziploc bags for chocolate banana smoothies and fruit smoothies.
  • I also freeze grapes to pop into smoothies.  A little extra sweetness and vitamins and no one is the wiser, tee hee.  (And yes family, now you know.)

Hmmm, all this blender talk makes me think a peach smoothie is in my lunchtime future.  Pitted fruits do need pitting, of course.

REALITY CHECK:  Many thanks to my friend, J, for inspiring this blender blog post, who is the loving owner of a Fill-in-the-Blank Blender herself.

Oh, yes, that reminds me:  We call our blender, VejuhVeetaVitamin!  Oh, I feel so much better now.  Writing definitely is cathartic.
