I Crochet Because Emotional Energy is Not Neutral
Filled with ugh-y feelings, at times I’ve been known to express those feelings and become rather ugh-esque myself. It’s a coping mechanism for dealing with the ugh of life, but it doesn’t produce much fruit. At least good fruit.
Over time, I grew tired of ugh. I grew tired of being overcome by ugh. But I was no good at neutrality.
Turns out, most of us aren’t.
Expectations of Neutrality
Then I discovered: God wasn’t expecting neutrality. God was asking for good.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:21 NKJV
Outlet for the Emotional Energy
The energy produced by emotion must go somewhere. It’s designed to go somewhere.
Better to make good of the energy than to be overcome by it.
And so, I crochet.
REALITY CHECK: My right hand is cold. Really cold. It gets colder than my left hand. So on chilly days, I wear a fingerless glove (crocheted, of course) on my right hand, but not my left. I know, it’s weird. But it’s reality. And sometimes, reality is like that.
