With the weather cooling off (one can dream, right?), it’s nearing craft sale time, or at least craft-making time! Then again when isn’t it craft-making time, right?
Here’s a pattern I discovered at Tangled Happy. It’s a cute little boutique bag and great for a craft fair.
2014 has been a year of exploring causes which welcome handmade gifts. Here are this week’s goodies’ causes:
- My friend, Roxanne, will be sponsoring a table to benefit Bread for Life at “Piggin and Peddlin,” a BBQ and craft fair in October. (see below for special order information)
- This is also a perfect little purse to tuck into Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.
The Creativity: Granny to Girls Boutique Bags
If you were a young lady, wouldn’t you love this lovely?
It’s small enough for a little girl, and yet adaptable – depending on colors and flower pattern used – for young ladies who need just a little place to tuck necessities.
Here’s one in hot pink with a clustery flower:
And one in bright blue and white …
And sweet pastels …
For the Grown Ups
And for something a little more grown up, I tried a fancy new yarn – a thrift store find! – to make a Dipped in Gold version, just right for a night out.
To make the handles a little more sturdy, I added an extra stitch each the time the handles met the bag.
And on the final round of the pattern, I decreased a couple of times here and there to prevent some of the stretch of the handles.
I also added a round of slip stitches to give the fluffy edge a little more polish.
The Yarn I Used
I’m not sure what the yarn is called – no label on the thrift store find – but here’s what it looked like in the skein:
Wouldn’t this pattern be pretty in black – maybe with a velvety yarn? And an elegant flower?

REALITY CHECK: Just a little over a month ‘til the college-man goes back to living on campus. Sigh, by the time this post goes live that countdown will be counted wayyyyy down. Wish I could have made the summer more spectacular for the kiddos. But they’ve done much to proud of themselves!
