Another Year, Please? Homeschool Retirement Update

Another Year

I know, I’m spoiled. I’ve been hearing it all my life.

Growing up, some defended me saying,

“She’s not spoiled, she’s just plain rotten.”

I would say to them now,

“Nope, I’m just plain blessed.”

But, I haven’t always felt blessed.

However …

Blessing isn’t in circumstantial change.

Blessing is in perspective change.

A few ways my perspective changed this last year:

I’m learning that although I want to do so very much,

I can, in truth, do so very little.

I’m learning that although I have many, many interests,

in truth I only have time for a few.

I’m learning that although I like independence

I like people, too.

I’m learning that although I’ve had many misconceptions

about a variety of subjects,

I know a few things about life, too.

I’m learning that if I need help choosing a name for a stuffed moose,

I have friends willing to get crazy with me.

I’m learning that I can read better with my new reading glasses.

Talk about a new perspective.

Words, how nice of you to stay in one place on the page!

And dear, dear progressive lenses, why did I fear you?

What I'm Reading

Now that I can read comfortably again …

I didn’t finish Discworld.

Late night crocheting trumped late night reading.

I did read:

Growing Your Faith by Jerry Bridges

I am in the midst of reading:

The Greatest Thing in the World by Henry Drummond

Disciplines of Grace by Jerry Bridges

And a silly book about talking fridges, but I don’t recommend it.  In fact, I most likely won’t finish it. One doesn’t know until one tries.

The book I mentioned …

The Greatest Thing in the World,

got me pondering love from a different angle.

Jesus said, “Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind.”

John said, “God is love.”

Paul shared what love is:

1 Corinthians 13.

So that means,

God is 1 Corinthians 13 love.

And we are to love God with 1 Corinthians 13 love.

With that new perspective,

I got stumped on Love is Patient.

God is patient with me.

But …

How patient am I with God?

Now that’s something to ponder.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 NKJV

While it’s been an unusual month …

(I’m not sure I would recognize a usual month Smile)

I’ve met wonderful people online via Operation LITTLE FEET!

In fact, there’s a new Operation LITTLE FEET Ravelry group!

Operation Little Feet Ravelry Group

And as a treat …

I got to meet – in real life – Kathy, the assistant coordinator of Love Snuggles, and her retired military husband, Mark.

Here’s a tiny little sample from the big bag of handmade goodies Love Snuggles donated to Operation LITTLE FEET!

More to come about this amazing group in future posts!
