Did you find a treasure-icious surprise when you clicked that one little Strong’s number?
Let’s not get overwhelmed at all we can glean, let’s be encouraged!
Dig the Concordance!
Each time we dig a little deeper into God’s Word, He leads us closer to His heart for us, and for the other guy, and for the world.
God doesn’t ask us to mine His Word because He’s hiding anything from us, but because He wants us to want to know Him, really know Him and spend time with Him, not just intellectually agree to His existence.
He wants to be our Shepherd – for reals. And that’s something I need to remind myself of over and over again.
So let’s do a little digging for 5 short minutes at Blue Letter Bible.
I hope you came hungry because we’re headed to the buffet!
Enjoy the Dig!
Follow the steps from Day 4 to find a word you would like to know more about.
Here’s the short-list:
- Set the Tomato Timer. Check speaker volume.
- Go to Blue Letter Bible.
- Search for a verse by reference or key word.
- Click the Tools button next to the verse you are interested in.
- Click the Interlinear tab.
You should now be where you were last lesson.
As an example, I searched shepherd Psalm. Then I chose Psalm 23:1.
The only two columns we are interested in for now are:
English and Strong’s.
Try to block out the other columns in your mind. Just pretend they are ads on Facebook.
- Choose a word/phrase in the English column.
Got Your Word?
Skip your eyes over to the Strong’s column. The blue blocks won’t be on your screen – I did that graphically on the screenshots so you could see what I was talking about.
For example, “is my shepherd” is number H7462.
- Click the number.
You Now Sit at a Word Buffet!
This screenshot is just a tiny bit of what’s being served!
There is so much to glean, the screenshot couldn’t capture it all!
Interlinear resources are like veggie candy!
Sweet *and* good for our souls!
I was going to list all the goodies, but it’s so much more fun to explore the campground than read a list of amenities and adventures.
So … have fun exploring!
Putting More Time on the Tomato
It’s at this point that I usually reset my Tomato Timer over and over again (or set it for a 10-minute Long Break or 25-minute Pomodoro).
I love clicking around on that buffet page, learning what I can learn!
What are you learning? What word did you dig into? Please do share in the comments – curiosity feeds curiosity!
