Pack a Shoebox, Please

And here are a few tips to get you started:

Boxes, Boxes, Boxes

Operation Christmas Child isn’t all about the boxes, but boxes do make the goodies go ’round. ‘Round the world, that is!

Banker Boxes for Gathering Goodies

Buy a set of “banker boxes” when you see them go on sale.

  • Label the box in general terms, like school supplies.
  • Or in specific terms, like pens, pencils, scissors, etc.
  • Shop and tuck away goodies all year long.

A Box Just for Toys

Have a nice big box ready for toys you find:

  • On sale.
  • At yard sales or thrift shops (must be clean and new looking, like it just came off the shelf at the store).
  • That you earn with Swagbucks, or doing surveys (keep an eye out for opening at Pinecone Research).

I’ve learned so much from Mary at Clip With Purpose and Cheryl at Simply Shoeboxes!

By having a box just for toys, you’ll be able to keep track of the number of “wow gifts” you gather.

Collect Shoeboxes

Keep an eye out for shoeboxes throughout the year.

Or, do I what I did this year:

Have circumstances beyond my control create a dearth (not a Darth as in Vader; a dearth, as in lack thereof) of shoeboxes, followed by a simple trust in my heavenly Father, Who sent three men, two women, and a retail store to my rescue.

Shoeboxes by the Bag

And we had plenty – but it got a little close for my comfort.

Now that’s it’s done, it’s all good.

Because it’s all God.

God’s tangible love

through your willing hands

make eternal differences

in lives around the world.
