After nearly* a year of praying, planning, preparing, watching God provide, creating, shopping, prepping behind the scenes and packing (lots of packing!), we have made it to the finish line!
Many, many thanks to all the volunteers behind …
- sewing machines
- steering wheels
- shopping carts
… and in so many other ways making 2016 a FANTASTIC year of celebrating God’s goodness at home and beyond!
Time to Thank and Time to Rest
I thank God for the seasons He allows us: time to shoebox and time to rest.
(Right after I get these last few posts out and my words ready for #OneWordDec, that is.)
When your shoeboxes are rubberbanded and ready for their journey, rest and thank God for His many blessings, while you celebrate the holidays with loved ones.
If you are feeling alone** this holiday season for one reason or many, know that God is always present and always available to spend time with you.
“Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.” Psalm 62.8
“For You have made him most blessed forever; You have made him exceedingly glad with Your presence.” Psalm 21:6
In Him, we find the rest we crave.
*About that nearly a year thing: I take about a month off of shoeboxing somewhere around Thanksgiving until the after-Christmas sales begin. I’m not a total wackadoodle!
**About the lonely thing: Finding someone we can serve with brings so much comfort and care to our own hearts. If you feel alone, find someone to not be alone with. Maybe you can shop for shoeboxes together. Or create a craft project with one another. Or pray for the children who receive shoeboxes.
If you are lonely because you are housebound, I understand that, too. Reach out to others online who may be serving and ask how you can pray for them, or how you can help. Stay connected because you have value. And along those lines, I want to thank those who have come alongside me in my loneliness.
