Train of Thoughts 1: Freedom or Bondage?

The Thought

One of my first thoughts I thought on my cross-country journey was:

Freedom to one is bondage to another.

As I traveled north to DC, I met a woman going back to NC who doesn’t like the train. She likes to go when she wants and where she wants. She doesn’t like all the stops along the way. To her the train was bondage.

However, from my cozy full-leg-roomed-seat view, the train gives me freedom because I can’t go where I want, when I want around town. I love the stops along the tracks, glimpsing varying ways people live within the constrains of their geography. I love the timetable, too – Amtrak’s not the freight lines.  Winking smile

Application

Some people find Christianity to be a form of bondage.

Religion, when man gets their controlling fingers in God’s pie, certainly can be.

But Christ Himself, what He did, why He did it and for whom He did it is all about freedom.

That’s why I like train travel and Jesus: they both offer me freedom.  Smile

And so begins the series: Train of Thoughts.

I have my eye on the pro tools version though!  Maybe I’ll treat myself for my next train trip.  Open-mouthed smile
